I’ve been reading about Rational Unified Process and Scrum a bit lately. I see that the process we use internally is directly taken from RUP, but repackaged and renamed. I quite like the process and see it’s benefits.
I think one of the main things to remember is that each project needs a different ammount of process and the phrase “just enough process” is quite valuable.
RUP, with our process names and out checkpoint names.
A project has four phases:
• Inception phase (Business Planning)
o Lifecycle Objective Milestone
• Elaboration phase (Definition)
o Lifecycle Architecture Milestone (Commitment Review)
• Construction phase (Delivery)
o Initial Operational Capability Milestone (FFL)
• Transition phase (Deployment)
o Product Release Milestone (RRG)
